How to Style Wavy Frizzy Hair

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 05:00 PM PDT

Wavy and frizzy hair can be challenging to style, but it can also yield great results. Practice using various products until you find one that you like and one that gets great results. Gels, pastes, and sprays are all good options, depending on what you want. In between styling sessions, preserve the natural texture and moisture of your hair by sleeping with it in a scarf or in braids. With a bit of effort, you can have stylish, wavy hair free of frizz.

EditSteps

EditWashing and Drying Your Hair

  1. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. If you have naturally wavy and frizzy hair, then using the right shower products is very important. Look for a shampoo or conditioner that advertises its moisturizing qualities. Make sure to massage these products into your scalp while taking a shower and fully rinse them out.[1]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 1.jpg
    • You can also comb your conditioner through your hair while taking a shower. This helps to ensure that the product reaches all hair strands and makes detangling easier.
    • Avoid shower products that contain alcohol or sulfates, as these can dry out and split your hairs.
  2. Towel dry your hair gently with a soft towel after the shower. Using a blow dryer on your hair may only increase any frizziness and dry your hair out. Instead, use a soft towel such as one made of a microfiber material or old cotton T-shirt to gently wring the water out of your hair. It's best to leave your hair just slightly damp if you plan to add styling products right after.[2]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 2.jpg
    • Avoid using a terry cloth towel, as this will only increase frizziness.
  3. Detangle and smooth out your hair with a wide-tooth comb. Hair brushes remove oils from your scalp, which makes your hair dryer and frizzier. Use your brush sparingly or replace it entirely with a comb. Run a comb through your hair to spread product out. Or, use your fingers to do the same thing.[3]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 3.jpg

EditFighting Frizz and Managing Waves

  1. Massage frizz-smoothing products into your hair. When you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair. Then, place a few pumps of smoothing product into your palm. Rub your hands together and then run your fingers through your hair from root to tip. Draw the waves slightly downward as you work the product into the strands.[4]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 4.jpg
  2. Scrunch in texture paste from the bottom up. Place a small amount of hair paste on your fingertips. Then, place your fingers against the bottom tips of your hair. Gently scrunch the hair between your fingers and work your way upwards until the paste is gone. Add more paste and continue.[5]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 5.jpg
    • Try not to use too much paste or your hair will feel stiff and heavy.
    • If you feel as if the paste is only reaching the top layer of hair, flip your head downwards and apply paste to the underside.
  3. Use a travel-sized bottle of serum to tame frizziness on-the-go. If you are out and hit some rain or humidity, place a bit of hair serum into your palm. Lightly place a layer of serum on top of your hair, which will hold down the frizz. You can also pull your hair back into a ponytail to complete a sleek look. Most anti-frizz serums will work for this purpose.[6]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 6.jpg
  4. Experiment with different products until you find what works. Each person's hair is their own and will respond differently to various products. Get product samples and try them out to see what works. This allows you to test products without spending lots of money. If your friends also have wavy or frizzy hair, talk with them to see what works well.[7]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 7.jpg
    • Don't give up on a product right away. It may simply take using just a bit less or trying a different technique.
  5. Mix up your styling process every few days. Don't use the same products and process day after day or you and your hair might fall into a rut. Instead, alternate products every so often from gels, sprays, and pastes. Some days use full products in the showers and other days skip washing your hair altogether.[8]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 8.jpg
  6. Sleep with your hair in a scarf to prevent frizz. Gently twist your hair and then tie a silk scarf around it. Arrange it so that the scarf will hold your hair in. The scarf will preserve the moisture in your hair and keep it from drying out. The twist will also preserve the waves and texture of your hair.[9]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 9.jpg
    • Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can also help prevent frizz if you prefer to sleep with your hair down. You can find silk pillowcases in many home goods stores as well as online.

EditCreating Different Hair Styles

  1. Pin down 2 of your front hair sections. Select 2 small portions of hair on either side of your face at the front. Pull 1 section upwards and twist it a bit. Then, place it back against the back or side part of your scalp. Use pins to keep the twist in place. Repeat on the other side.[10]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 10.jpg
  2. Spritz sea salt spray into your hair. Turn your head upside down and let your hair hang. Grab your sea salt spray and spritz the exposed underside of your hair 2-5 times. Then, flip your hair back over and use your hands to spread the spray out into your hair. The final look should have a beachy vibe with undone waves.[11]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 11.jpg
  3. Slick back your hair with gel. Place a quarter-sized amount of gel into your palm. Use your fingers to apply this gel to the top front sections of your hair. You can either slide it directly back or use the gel to mold your hair into face-framing waves.[12]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 12.jpg
  4. Move your flat iron in small circles. Instead of feeding your hair into the flat iron and pulling it straight, try to rotate your hand around slightly. You'll still want to feed a small amount of hair in between the iron tongs at a time. Then, go slowly and slightly twist your wrist around as you move the iron down. This will keep a bit of curve in your hair.[13]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 13.jpg
  5. Sleep in braids for smooth curls. Before you go to bed at night, twist your hair into 1 or 2 large braids. It's usually easier to sleep with 2 braids. Then, when you wake up your hair will have a preserved, careful wave without tangles. Be careful which ties you use as some can leave kinks in your hair. To polish your look, go over your larger curls with a curling iron.[14]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 14.jpeg

EditTrying Different Haircuts

  1. Get an undercut. Many men with wavy hair prefer to trim the sides and back of their hair very short while leaving the top section longer. Then, they can either push those long strands forward all the way or part them to the side. They can also allow the waves of their hair to flow freely, in a more uncontrolled look.[15]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 15.jpeg
    • It can help to tie your hair up with a band loosely at night. This keeps the waves intact and untangled.
  2. Ask for a straight cut if your hair is shorter. If you have hair that sits above your shoulders, cutting it with many layers will only make it look round and top heavy. Instead, keep your hair as long as possible by trimming it a single length around the chin. These blunt cuts often flatter shorter hair. Additionally, the heaviness of the hair will then keep them from frizzing or becoming unruly.[16]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 17.jpeg
    • With this look a long bang is often a good choice. It softens the face.
  3. Ask for a layered cut if your hair is shoulder-length or longer. Wavy and frizzy hair can look very heavy on top unless it is cut properly. To ward off this chunky look, request that your stylist cut layers throughout your hair in varying lengths and locations. It's also a good idea to get layers both in the interior and exterior of your hair to create balance and an evening effect.[17]
Style Wavy Frizzy Hair Step 16.jpeg
    • Most stylists will use scissors when cutting layers into wavy hair, only using razors for more subtle cuts.

EditTips

  • Before applying any product it always helps if you can rub it between your palms for at least 30 seconds.

EditWarnings

  • Only shower in lukewarm water, as hot water can damage your hair. Lukewarm water also works the best with shower products.[18]

How to Understand Autistic Strengths

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:00 AM PDT

Many people are aware that autism comes with unique needs and challenges. Some are not aware that it also comes with noticeable gifts. Autism is not all bad, nor all beautiful, just like any other way of being. Whether you are an autistic person searching to accept yourself, a loved one who wants to support the autistic people in their life, or a curious bystander, here is how to learn the benefits of autism and what autistics have to offer.

EditSteps

EditUnderstanding the General Benefits

  1. Recognize the passion and expertise that comes from special interests. Hans Asperger referred to his patients as "little professors" due to their expertise on their favorite topics. Special interests give autistic people focus and direction in their lives, and they can enjoy something deeply.
    Cute Girl Reading.png
  2. Consider observation skills. Autistic people are often detail-oriented, and thus notice things that others don't,[1][2] whether it is a problem with the robot the group is building or the way the sunrise lights up the clouds.
    Deaf Autistic Girl Smells Hydrangeas.png
  3. Recognize deep loyalty. Many autistic people are very loyal, and will stand with their friends and loved ones. This enables them to form strong bonds with others.[3] Some companies even look to hire autistic people because they want employees who are loyal to the company.[4][5]
    Couple Sitting in Wheelchair.png
    • Temple Grandin famously said that an autistic child would run into a burning building to save their loved ones. Quite a few autistic people can relate to this.[6][7]
  4. Observe enhanced helpfulness. Many autistic people have a high sense of social responsibility, or feeling responsible for helping others. As a result, many autistic people are caring and eager to give others a hand when needed.
    Man Gives Gift to Woman.png
  5. Recognize superior memory. Autistic people may have better memory, both related to facts about their special interests, and recalling events from the past.[8]
    Smiling Relaxed Man.png
  6. Consider visual skills and pattern recognition. Autistic people's brains allocate more resources towards visual processing, and autistic people may be around 40% faster at problem-solving.[9][10] Autistic people tend to be better at "systemizing" than non-autistics.[11]
    K Map in Color.png
  7. Look for appreciation of the arts. Whether it means sketching colorful portraits, loving to dance, or enjoying theater, many autistic people have a special connection to various artistic fields.[12][13][14] Some have natural "savant skills," meaning that they demonstrate incredible abilities with little or no practice, while others gain talent through focused practice. Some prefer to enjoy art, rather than to create it.
Girl with Down Syndrome Listens to Music.png
  8. Consider talent with written language. Some autistic people have unique ways with language, and may write very poetically. From Amy Sequenzia to Emma Zurcher-Long, there are many autistic writers who are talented with words.
    Disabled Man Writing.png
    • A large vocabulary is moderately common.[15]
  9. Notice the unique perspective. While non-autistics often struggle to "think outside the box," autistic people barely know where the box is. Autistic people think differently, and are motivated to explore the world around them,[16] which can lead to original and innovative ideas.[17]
Woman in Hijab Has an Idea.png
    • This can be useful for problem solving. An autistic person may come up with a solution that others would miss.
    • Some autistic people tell very funny jokes because of unique thinking.
  10. Recognize fairness and absence of judgment.[18][19] Because autistic people think differently, and live in a culture where they are different from others, many autistics are open and welcoming to people who think and behave in ways different from them. Many autistic people are non-judgmental and accepting towards others' differences.
Autistic Man and Woman Happy Stimming.png
    • Autistic people are more likely to judge others fairly,[20] and often have a strong sense of justice.[21]
  11. Consider truthfulness and sincerity. Autistic people tend to tell the truth, and mean what they say.[22][23] Many autistic people are authentic, honest individuals.
    Transgender Guy Talking.png
  12. Consider clarity of mind in moral quandaries. Autistic people tend not to be weighed down by social complexities, which helps them avoid losing sight of their values amidst the noise.[24][25] Autistic people often care strongly about principles.
    Disabled Man Walks in Woods.png
    • Despite popular myths, studies find that autistic people do care for others.[26]
  13. Recognize the deep capacity for love. Loyalty, attention to detail,[27] deep feeling,[28] and caring can lead autistic people to love deeply and intensely.
    Man Speaks Lovingly to Girl.png
    • Many autistic people express love in practical ways, by helping the people they care about.[29] For example, if you are sad, an autistic person might offer tissues and hot chocolate to help you feel better.
  14. Consider the person as an individual. One autistic person will not have all of the traits mentioned earlier, and this is perfectly normal and okay. They will also have their own strengths unique to themselves. Each autistic person is different. When using this list, be sure to recognize that it does not define or encompass you or your loved one.
    Diverse Group of People.png
    • If you're autistic, and you don't relate to every single step here, that doesn't make you a "bad autistic person." It makes you average.

EditEncouraging Your Loved One's Autistic Strengths

  1. Talk to them about autistic strengths. Many autistic people fear that they are worthless, broken, or burdensome to their families. They know how autism makes their life harder. Give them the full picture by explaining how autism also makes them stronger and unique.
    Autistic Girl and Grandma Read.png
    • Make a children's book, similar to a social story, explaining autistic strengths. Add pictures, read it to them, and keep it where they can reach it. You may notice them taking greater pride in themselves and imitating what they read.
    • Consider showing this article to an older loved one.
  2. Celebrate their special interests. Special interests can provide joy and direction in your loved one's life, so encourage them. Help them find activities related to their favorite things, keep special interests in mind when looking for birthday gifts, and ask questions about areas of the subject that interest you. Make sure they can access plenty of information about their special interest(s).
Guy and Autistic Girl Talking About Bugs.png
  3. Engage in discussions about deeper topics. Because autistic people often prefer meaningful areas of conversation, this is a good way to engage with them and encourage their abilities in critical thinking. Topics may range from the nature of love, to human rights, to the history of your country.
Man Asks Woman a Question 2.png
  4. Offer opportunities in creative fields. Some autistic people are very skilled at music, art, writing, et cetera (or may become very skilled through practice). Present opportunities to your loved one, and see what sticks. They may discover something amazing about themselves.
    Guy Listening to Music.png
  5. Comment when you notice them doing something good, or think a positive thought about them. Many autistic children are used to being criticized and told no. Take time to tell them when they've done something right. You can also tie this into autistic strengths if you consider it fitting.
    Man and Autistic Girl Laughing.png
    • "Wow, Wendy, you know so much about snakes! It's cool to see you learning and talking about something so passionately."
    • "What a beautiful painting! I love the bright colors."
    • "John, it was really kind of you to help that little boy."
    • "You are so silly and adorable."
    • "That was an incredible speech you gave. I'm proud of you."
  6. Help make sure that all their needs are met. It's hard for them to be happy and live up to their full potential if they are experiencing constant sensory overload or battling depression. Help them advocate for their needs, and back them up if others are not being accommodating. If you are their caregiver, ensure that they get any therapies and medical treatments they may need. When they are doing well, they can flourish.
    Man Consoles Teen Boy.png
  7. Love them for who they are. Don't let your loved one doubt whether they are good, whether they make your life better or worse, or whether they have a place in the world. Send a clear, constant message that you love their autistic self, and they are never a burden in your eyes.[30]
Sister Laughs While Autistic Brother Flaps Hands.png
  8. Expect them to grow at their own pace. An autistic person may be extremely advanced in some ways, while struggling with other tasks that their peers easily accomplish. It's okay if your loved one doesn't meet their milestones at the same pace everyone else is. Don't push too hard and over-stress them. Instead, meet them where they are, and gently work up from there.
Mom Smiles while Autistic Daughter Stims.png
  9. Enjoy your time with them. Your loved one is a unique, wonderful individual who can open you up to new ideas and perspectives. Have fun with them.
    Deaf Dad and Daughter Laugh.png

EditEmbracing Your Autistic Strengths

  1. Hone your skills. Becoming a more capable person is not only about reducing your weaknesses, but about strengthening the skills you already have. Spend more time on your special interests. Find hobbies, work, and volunteer in ways that build upon your existing strengths.
    Woman Thinking about Writing Something.png
  2. Embrace your perceptiveness. You notice far many more details than others do, and while this is certainly overwhelming sometimes, it can also be an incredible gift. Pay close attention when working on detailed projects, and speak up if you notice something off (because others may have missed it). Slow down to enjoy the beauty of nature. Take time to catalogue your observations and enjoy the things you see, hear, smell, and feel.
    Engineering Students Build.png
  3. Spend time with puzzles and games. Your visual and problem-solving skills are most likely enhanced, and you can strengthen them further through practice. Look for puzzles that test your logic skills and challenge your brain.
    Visual Box Puzzle.png
    • Many games on your phone involve visual thinking.
  4. Practice loving honesty.[31] You don't need to tell "white lies" in order to have good relationships; instead combine your autistic compassion and sincerity to speak kindly to others. You have the capacity to be a deeply authentic, loving person.
Silly Man and Woman On Phone.png
    • When you think a nice thought about someone, say it out loud. Even if they aren't around, your kind words may eventually come back to them.
    • Pair criticism with compliments. For example, "Grandpa, I'm surprised a thoughtful and fair-minded person like you would speak so negatively about Muslims."
    • Critique objects or actions, not people. For example, if your wife really does look awful in that dress, say "I don't think it does your figure justice. What about the blue one?"
  5. Don't be afraid to ask for accommodations. When all your needs are met, you have more energy to focus on what you do well. You live in a world designed for non-autistics, and tailoring your home and workspace to your autistic brain will allow you to work better.
Guy in Wheelchair Thinks of His Needs.png
  6. Enjoy life. Focus on things that are enjoyable and good for you. Slow down the rush to be perfect, and spend more time enjoying what's around you and doing things you love.
    Smiling Asexual Girl with Cornrows.png
    • If something is difficult or painful, and not rewarding enough to justify it, then quit. You don't need to measure up to neurotypical standards in order to be happy. Pare away unnecessary stress.
    • Make a list of things that fulfill you and make you feel happy, from family to nature walks to volunteering. Find ways to work more of these into your everyday life.
  7. Give yourself patience, time, and love. Autism is a disability, and understanding the strengths doesn't erase the hard parts. It's okay to feel tired, frustrated, or worried at times. You will have bad days, and you don't have to be hard on yourself. Work on developing coping skills, such as...
    Woman in Hijab Smells Flowers.png
    • Reading through a rainy day box
    • Getting outdoors
    • Looking through autism positivity blogs and re-reading this article
  8. Remember that you are unique. Don't judge yourself by neurotypical standards, because those won't fit you. Instead of trying to be more "normal," work on building the skills you need and loving yourself as you are. Trying to make yourself neurotypical, or beating yourself up for not being neurotypical, isn't going to help you. Instead, work on becoming a healthy, talented, and happy autistic person.
    Woman with Rainbow Thoughts.png

EditWarnings

  • Non-autistic people should avoid stereotyping autistic people with beliefs like "they're all angels" or "their brains are like supercomputers." Autistic people are real people. They are just as diverse as non-autistics are (if not more so) and also have bad days and weaknesses.

How to Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 01:00 AM PDT

Skinny jeans are flattering, supportive, and versatile clothes that look great on all body types, including plus size and curvy women. The key to wearing skinny jeans is finding the right pair for your shape and styling them with complementary pieces of clothing. It's simple and fun to wear skinny jeans year-round as long as you keep these tips in mind!

EditSteps

EditBuying a Pair of Skinny Jeans

  1. Check with the store to see if they have the style of jeans that you want. Call the store ahead of time to make sure that they carry skinny jeans and that they're available to try on in your size. If they don't have the jeans that you like available, some stores can order them to the store for free for you to try on there.[1]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 1.jpg
    • If a store doesn't carry the jeans that you like in your size, don't get discouraged. There are plenty of places that make skinny jeans in plus sizes who will be more than happy to help you find your perfect pair!
  2. Try on your favorite pairs in the store before buying. The key to finding the right pair of jeans is trying them on in the store before you make a purchase. Walk around and move in the jeans to make sure you have a full range of movement and feel comfortable wearing them.[2]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 2.jpg
    • You should never feel like the waistband is pressing on your stomach or that the ankle or thigh areas are squeezing you. If you do, ask a store associate to help you adjust your sizing.
  3. Try on jeans from multiple stores to get the most comfortable pair. Sizing and fit from store to store can vary greatly. Trying on jeans in multiple different stores from different designers will help you understand what jeans make you feel most confident and comfortable.[3]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 3.jpg
    • When trying on jeans, prioritize aspects like fit and movability over style and embellishments.
  4. Take your jeans to a tailor for a better fit. For most plus size women, finding the right sizing for jeans can be difficult. A pair that fits in your thighs might be too big around the waist. If you find that's the case for you, find a pair that fits you well in most places. Then, take the jeans to the tailor to have them adjust the areas that don't fit as well.[4]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 4.jpg
    • The tailor can take in the waist of a pair of jeans, adjust the hem, or add extra buttons or zippers for support.
    • If you're petite, a tailor can help make a long pair of jeans fit your shorter stature perfectly.
  5. Try jogging for more stretch. Many stores carry both skinny jeans and jeggings styles for plus size women. Skinny jeans have less stretch and provide more structure, while jeggings tend to be thinner material and much stretchier. Try on both and decide which you prefer for your personal look.[5]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 5.jpg
    • Some women prefer to wear longer tops over jeggings because they are normally tighter than traditional skinny jeans.

EditChoosing Your Style

  1. Select a darker wash for a slimming and sophisticated look. Darker wash jeans tend to be more flattering and versatile for plus size women. Look for pairs with a dark blue or black color that have some lighter portions on the upper thigh.[6]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 6.jpg
    • Make sure you wash dark jeans before wearing them, as the dyes in the fabric can rub off on your skin or other surfaces that touch the jeans!
  2. Opt for a pair with some stretch to the fabric. Skinny jeans should mold to your body and provide support where you need it, like the backside and tummy areas. Look for pairs that are 1-4% lycra or spandex, as they will have some stretch but still maintain their shape after washing.[7]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 7.jpg
    • Jeans with higher percentages of elastic will lose their shape quickly.
    • They can also wear out in areas that rub together often, like the thighs.
  3. Search for styles with mid- to high-rise waist lines for tummy control. A main concern for plus size women is the smoothing and controlling effect of their jeans. Skinny jeans with a higher waist will elongate your legs and slim the tummy area for a better fit.[8]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 8.jpg
    • High-rise jeans will normally fall above the belly button and provide the most support and tummy control.
    • Mid-rise jeans, also known as normal rise, hit right at or just below the belly button and provide less control, but can be more flattering for women with shorter torsos.
  4. Go for a more edgy look by purchasing "destroyed" jeans. Skinny jeans with holes, tears, or bleach stains are very popular for a rocker-style look. They tend to be more expensive due to their styling, but are sure to make your outfit stand out from the crowd.[9]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 9.jpg
    • Look for destroyed jeans that are well-constructed. Any holes or tears should look purposeful and still be able to hold up to normal wear and tear.
    • If the holes or rips in your jeans tear further after you wear them a few times, contact the store to let them know the situation and ask for a refund.
  5. Purchase a pair of light wash jeans for a relaxed look. Light wash jeans are a popular for warmer months because they pair well with brighter colors. Look for more relaxed fits in light jeans because they tend to be less forgiving of bumps and curves than darker washes.[10]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 10.jpg
    • Boyfriend-style light wash skinny jeans tend to be looser and can be cuffed at the ankles for a more relaxed and effortless style.
  6. Look for unique fabrics and embellishments. You don't have to confine yourself to just denim when looking for skinny jeans. There are plenty of other fabric options like leather, suede, or a mix of different fabrics. Try on any style that interests you![11]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 11.jpg
    • Be aware that different fabrics will have a different fit. Leather and suede tend to have less stretch than traditional denim, so you might need to adjust your sizing to get the perfect fit!

EditStyling Skinny Jeans

  1. Wearing slimming undergarments for a better fit and smoother look. Women of all sizes wear shapewear under their clothes to improve the fit and give themselves a more flattering shape in their clothing. With skinny jeans, opt for a pair of undergarments that stretches up the stomach area and reaches down to the mid-thigh.[12]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 12.jpg
    • Shapewear should be snug but not constricting. Trying on the jeans with shapewear before you buy will help you see areas where you might experience bunching or rolling of your undergarments.
    • Avoid embarrassing hemlines showing through the fabric of your jeans by selecting shapewear with "invisible" hems.
  2. Wear solid colored tops in bold colors with fun accents. Skinny jeans create a very defined silhouette, and you can create a proportional look with a solid shirt on top. Accents like beaded necklines, tassels along the hem, or ruffled sleeves can complement your look and add an interesting feature to your outfit.[13]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 13.jpg
    • Tops with bold or graphic patterns can make you look top-heavy and clash with your jeans. Avoid animal print, diagonal stripes, or multicolored prints.
  3. Add interest and balance to your outfit with fun shoes. When wearing skinny jeans, your calves and thighs will be more defined. Wear strappy sandals, brightly colored pumps, or pointed-toe stilettos to balance the bottom of your outfit with the rest of your body.[14]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 14.jpg
    • A great way to create balance is by matching the color of your shirt to your shoes, which can create a simple professional look.
  4. Pair a plain t-shirt and a light scarf with skinny jeans for a relaxed look. On days where you're busy and need a quick and cute outfit, skinny jeans are a great option! Choose a brightly-colored printed scarf and tennis shoes or flats to round out your look.
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 15.jpg
    • Throw on a long duster or sweater to tie the outfit together and for added warmth in the cooler months.
  5. Wear cropped skinny jeans with heels to elongate the leg. For shorter plus size women, cropped skinny jeans can be a better fitting options. You can elongate your legs to appear taller by wearing heels or wedges that complement your outfit.[15]
Wear Plus Size Skinny Jeans Step 16.jpg
    • The ankle area also tends to be the slimmest part of the body, so you can draw attention to this area by showing some skin and choosing a funky shoe.

EditTips

  • Always wear what makes you feel most comfortable and confident! If something doesn't fit correctly, return it for a different size or pick an item that you like better.
